The checkout is a conversation. Most stores shout over it.
At the moment of paying, a buyer is doing two jobs: finishing a form, and deciding whether they will regret it. Extra fields, surprise shipping and unclear returns all sound like the store does not trust itself.
Good store design is mostly subtraction. Show the object. Name the delivery. Keep the thumb’s path short. Put reassurance next to the button that costs money.
We do not publish fake conversion lifts. We do publish a way of working: treat checkout as the most expensive conversation on the site, and write it like one.
